Mobile Home Deck Building & Replacement in Shelby Township, Michigan
Front entry steps, porches, and back decks built for manufactured homes. Freestanding framing, footings below the frost line, and composite or pressure-treated boards. Serving Macomb, Oakland, Wayne and surrounding counties.
Mobile Home Decks, Porches & Steps
Most of the decks we tear out were built like a stick-built house deck: bolted to the rim, too low to the skirting, or sitting on blocks that heave every winter. We build decks for manufactured homes the way they need to be built, from a small landing at the front door to a full back deck.

Front entry steps & landings
A solid landing with stairs and handrails that meets the door at the right height. The most common mobile home deck we build.
Covered & open porches
Side and front porches sized for a couple of chairs, with room to tie into an existing awning or carport.
Back decks
Bigger outdoor living space for grilling and seating, built off the back door with steps down to the yard.
Deck inspection & replacement
We don't do deck repairs. If your deck has rotten boards, soft spots, or failing posts, we'll inspect it and tell you straight whether it needs to be replaced.

Boards, posts, footings, stairs, and railings. We check what's rotting, what's moved, and whether it's still safe to use.
We tell you straight
If your deck is fine, we'll say so. If it needs to be replaced, we'll show you why and give you a written estimate.
We replace it
Old deck torn out and hauled away. New deck built on pressure-treated framing, with footings below the frost line unless it sits on your concrete pad or driveway.
Composite vs. Pressure-Treated Decking
Both work well on a mobile home deck. The framing underneath is always pressure-treated; we don't use composite framing. The difference is what goes on top: composite decking and railing, or pressure-treated wood.

| CompositeDecking & railing on treated framing | Pressure-Treated WoodTreated pine | |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | Higher | Lower |
| Upkeep | Wash it. No staining or sealing. | Stain or seal every 2–3 years |
| Michigan winters | Won't rot, split, or splinter | Can warp, crack, or check over time if not sealed |
| Look | Clean, even color; limited to factory colors | Natural wood; paint or stain any color |
| Summer sun | Darker colors get hot underfoot | Stays cooler |
| Best for | Homeowners who want low maintenance | Tighter budgets and rentals |
Why a Mobile Home Deck Is Different
A general deck builder can get these wrong. We work only on mobile and manufactured homes, so these are part of every job.
It stands on its own
Manufactured homes aren't built to carry a deck. We frame yours to be freestanding on its own posts and footings, so it doesn't pull on your home's walls or frame.
Footings that don't heave
Decks set on blocks shift every freeze and thaw. Our footings go below the 42-inch frost line, so your steps stay level with your door year after year. The only time we don't use footings is when the deck or landing sits on your concrete pad or driveway.
Access under your home, if you need it
Most decks sit right up against your skirting. If you want to keep access to your heat tape or belly board, tell us up front. We can build a small landing that sits on your concrete pad so it can be pushed or pulled away, or a larger deck on footings with no skirting of its own, or with lattice.
Park rules & permits
Most mobile home parks need to approve a new deck, and many townships require a permit. We handle the drawings and paperwork and pull permits where they're required.

Mobile Home Deck FAQ
In most cases, no. Manufactured homes aren't designed to carry the weight of a deck on their walls or frame. We build mobile home decks freestanding, on their own posts and footings, set tight to the home without loading it.
Most mobile home parks in Southeast Michigan require approval before a new deck or porch goes in, and many townships require a building permit. We prepare the plan, work with your park office, and pull permits where they're required.
It depends on size, height off the ground, number of stairs, railings, and whether you choose composite or pressure-treated boards. A small entry landing and a large back deck are very different jobs. We come out, measure, and give you a written estimate before any work starts. Call (586) 364-8420 to set up a visit.
Composite costs more upfront but needs almost no maintenance and holds up well to Michigan winters. Pressure-treated wood costs less but needs staining or sealing every few years. Either way, the framing is always pressure-treated. Composite decks get composite decking and railing on top of treated framing.
A front entry landing with steps usually takes 1 to 3 days. Back decks take longer, typically 3 to 7 days, plus time for park approval or permits.
No, we don't do deck repairs. What we can do is come out and inspect your deck, tell you honestly whether it needs to be replaced, and if it does, build you a new one. Call (586) 364-8420 to set up an inspection.
It can. Most decks go right up against the skirting, which closes off that section. If you need access to your heat tape or belly board, ask for it when we plan the job. We can build a small landing that sits on your concrete pad so it can be pushed or pulled away, or a larger deck on footings with no skirting of its own, or with lattice. If your underbelly needs work, it's best to do it before the new deck goes in.
Sudden damage like a fallen tree limb or wind damage is often covered, while rot and age usually aren't. Your policy and adjuster decide. We document the damage and can meet your adjuster. See our insurance claim repairs page.
