Belly Boards

Belly boards (also called belly wraps, underbelly boards, or bottom boards) in manufactured and mobile homes refer to the protective barrier or material attached to the underside of the home. They serve several important purposes:

Purpose of Belly Boards in Manufactured Homes:

Moisture Barrier: They help keep moisture from the ground from reaching the insulation and subflooring, preventing mold, mildew, and rot.

Insulation Protection: They hold insulation in place beneath the floor, maintaining energy efficiency and comfort.

Pest Prevention: They act as a barrier to prevent rodents, insects, and other pests from entering the home from below.

Duct and Pipe Protection: They shield plumbing and HVAC ducts that run beneath the home from damage and temperature extremes.

Materials Used: Traditional belly boards are made of black polyethylene sheeting, woven fabric, or special vinyl barrier materials. Repairs often use belly wrap tape or patch kits designed to seal rips or holes.

Maintenance Note: Over time, belly boards can sag, tear, or degrade—especially after plumbing leaks or animal damage—so periodic inspection and repair are important for maintaining the structural and energy integrity of a manufactured home.

Belly Board Replacement

Our belly replacement service is a complete under-home restoration that protects your investment and improves energy efficiency.

During the Process

  • We take care to avoid damaging wiring, water lines, and drain systems.

  • If we notice unrelated damage (e.g., plumbing leaks or electrical issues), we’ll notify you immediately.

  • Progress photos are taken throughout for full transparency and your records.

How It Works

  1. Access & Skirting Removal

    • We assess the type of skirting around your home.

    • For vinyl or metal skirting, we remove multiple sections for better access.

    • For brick skirting, we use existing access points or carefully remove panels as needed.

  2. Full Removal of Old Materials

    • All damaged vapor barrier, insulation, and ductwork are removed.

    • Materials are bagged and hauled away — leaving no mess behind.

  3. Rebuild & Replacement

    • We build new ductwork and install necessary flex ducts.

    • A fresh vapor barrier is secured and new insulation is installed where needed.

    • The result is a clean, sealed, and energy-efficient underbelly — nearly factory-grade quality.
